Alabama Football announces assistant coach roles for 2025 season

Kalen DeBoer’s coaching staff for Year 2 at Alabama is officially set.
The Crimson Tide announced the full staff for the 2025 season, including the exact roles of all 13 on-field coaches. Alabama will have six coaches on offense and defense with coordinators Ryan Grubb and Kane Wommack overseeing their respective sides of the ball. The 13th coach is special teams coordinator Jay Nunez, who is entering his second year.
DeBoer brought in Jason Jones as an assistant defensive backs coach. The Alabama alum was last the cornerbacks coach at North Carolina. He also reunited with Grubb, the Seahawks offensive coordinator in 2024. While Grubb takes over play-calling duties, Nick Sheridan remains the quarterbacks coach and is now listed as a co-offensive coordinator.
In an exclusive sitdown with BamaOnLine last week, DeBoer confirmed that and discussed the importance of keeping Sheridan on staff while also bringing Grubb back to Tuscaloosa.
“He and Ryan work so well together,” DeBoer told BOL. “This will be Year 3 now that they’ve been together, and this is Year 4 that I’ve been with Coach Sheridan. Just nothing but great confidence in him. He’s an extremely hard worker that has just so much humility, and our players respect the heck out of him.

“Very unique situation, obviously, and not easy because you want to be that play-caller. But one that is so unique that I appreciate everyone doing what’s best for the program and continuing to move forward.”
