Alabama football back on top in latest AP Poll
The Alabama football team (5-0, 2-0 SEC) is back on top in the latest AP Poll, which came out early on Sunday afternoon. The jump back ahead of No. 2 Georgia comes on the heels of the Crimson Tide going to Fayetteville to get a dominant 49-26 victory over Arkansas (3-2, 1-2 SEC).
The voting was close, however, as Alabama only had two more points than Georgia.
In fact, the Bulldogs had three more first-place votes. That might comes as a surprise to some after they struggled against a 2-3 Missouri squad on Saturday. The Tigers had a double-digit lead heading into the fourth quarter, but squandered it with the Bulldogs winning 26-22.

The SEC had quite a bit of a shake up in the latest AP Poll. Arkansas and Texas A&M both dropped out after losses. Meanwhile, Mississippi State (No. 23) and LSU (No. 25) both made an appearance. That means that after this week’s matchup against A&M, the Crimson Tide will have four straight appearances against top-25 opponents.

That’s also six straight opponents who are either ranked in the top-25 or are still getting votes to be ranked (Arkansas, Texas A&M). Four of those six games have come on the road, too. I don’t think anyone will be criticizing Alabama’s schedule this year.
