Alabama coaches select Players of the Week for Texas game
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Alabama football team (2-0) has started the year undefeated, but the feeling after Week 2 slightly differs from the one we saw after the season opener. The Crimson Tide got a hard-fought 20-19 victory over No. 21 Texas (1-1), but there isn’t as much praise to go around.
Last week, nine Alabama players were awarded Player of the Week honors by the coaching staff. This week, there were only five, which includes one on offense, one on defense and three on special teams. Here are those five players:

Offense
QB Bryce Young: Got off to a slow start, but finished the game with 251 yards of total offense, throwing for 213 while adding 38 on the ground. Also completed 69.2% of his 39 pass attempts with his lone score coming through the air. Young was a clutch, effective performer down the stretch.
Defense
DB DeMarcco Hellams: Helped hold Texas to only 19 points on the day. Led Alabama in tackles with 10, eight of which were considered solo tackles. The senior safety also one tackle for loss and one pass breakup to his game totals.

Special Teams
LB Deontae Lawson: Despite only playing four snaps on defense, Lawson was an impactful player on special teams, helping limit the Texas return game.
K Will Reichard: Scored eight points against the Longhorns with two field goals and two extra points. The first field goal was a 52-yarder, which tied a career-high. Then, Reichard followed it up with the game-winning 33-yard field on Alabama’s final drive. Also added three touchbacks on five kickoffs while averaing 65.0 yards per boot.
LB Henry To’oTo’o: Was a key part in helping Alabama’s punt unit get kicks away in enemy terriory, which happened on multiple occasions. Also added six tackles on defense, helping the Crimson Tide hold the Texas offense to only one touchdown and four field goals.
