It’s been a frustrating few weeks for Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, who has thrown four interceptions in his last two games. How does the Crimson Tide build up his confidence?

“We just gotta get back to when he’s at his best and not try to do too much, not try to get outside of what he’s capable of,” said Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer during an interview on SportsCenter. “He’s a phenomenal athlete, player, person. Just really do what he does best, understand what makes him different than other quarterbacks around the country.

“And that’s always something we’re gonna make sure we try to do is tailor things around what he can do for us, help him be confident with that, make sure that the other guys around him are all doing their job at an extremely high level so that makes his job just a little bit easier. It doesn’t put as much pressure on him.”

Milroe threw for 239 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions on 25-45 passing in Alabama’s second loss of the season at Tennessee. His 56 percent completion percentage was his lowest of the year, and last Saturday in Knoxville marked Milroe’s fourth straight game with an interception. It was also his first contest without a rushing touchdown.

In his last three games, Milroe has had three of his four lowest rushing outputs of the season. In the loss to Vanderbilt, he rushed for 10 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, in a 2-point win over South Carolina, had 36 yards and two scores on a season-high 18 attempts and then in the road loss to Tennessee, he rushed for 11 yards on 14 carries.

Milroe had a hot start to the season, completing 74 percent of his passes and accounting for 21 touchdowns (12 passing, 9 rushing) in his first five games. As Alabama looks to end October on a high note and keep its postseason hopes alive, it needs Milroe to bounce back.

“We all just need to have everyone pick up their game, and I know he’ll do the same because it means a lot to him,” DeBoer said.

No. 15 Alabama will play host to No. 21 Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2:30 p.m. CT (ABC).
