Cole Adams injury update: Alabama WR/PR set to miss rest of season
Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer on Monday offered the latest update on injured wide receiver Cole Adams, who left the Crimson Tide’s most recent game against Missouri with an injury.
“With his injury, he’ll be out for the year,” DeBoer said on Monday. “We had to deal with that last week, and unfortunate, because Cole’s a guy that pours everything into it.
“Had an injury early in the season. Honestly, at the time, we probably thought that was gonna be something more significant as far as the time frame with the first one. Just seeing the effort he put into that first injury, you really found out a lot about who he was as a person and as a player.
“Just a toughness he had, and unfortunately, he had another injury here now. A lower-body injury, and so he’ll be done with the season here this year.”
Adams suffered a lower-extremity injury on a first-quarter gain by tight end CJ Dippre, and he needed help off the field from Crimson Tide trainers, unable to put pressure on his left leg. After spending time in the sideline medical tent, Adams was carted to the locker room.
Adams emerged in street clothes and with his ankle heavily wrapped. He was on crutches, and after the game, DeBoer said the feeling was Adams would miss “a little bit of time.”

On the season, Adams has caught six passes for 94 yards as one of Alabama’s top receivers. He has also returned 11 punts for 58 yards over six games, both of which lead the team.
This isn’t the first injury of the season for Adams. He suffered an arm injury in Week 2 against South Florida, leading to him wearing a bulky brace since early September. Adams, however, only missed one game because of it, returning to action against Georgia on Sept. 28. His ability to not miss any time received praise from his head coach a week ago.
“His comeback really is something that I think he kind of, as far as the timeline, he really willed himself back. He really did,” said DeBoer on his radio show before the Missouri game.
“I can remember vividly him being on the football field, and I could get a sense of what the thoughts were that were going through his mind when he went down, and what that might look like for this season. And for him to come back the way he did and continue to want to be out there and do the things he’s doing, it’s fun to see.”
No. 11 Alabama (6-2, 3-2 SEC) will travel to play No. 14 LSU (6-2, 3-1) on Saturday, Nov. 9.
