Alabama has moved up in the AP Poll for the third consecutive week. After being ranked No. 7 last week, the Crimson Tide are now at No. 6 after beating Auburn 49-27 in the Iron Bowl on Saturday. Now, it’s noteworthy that Ohio State is still ranked ahead of them at No. 5 after losing by 22 to No. 2 Michigan this weekend.
Right now, Alabama still has an outside shot at the College Football Playoff, but this isn’t the poll that matters. We’ll find out how the selection committee feels about the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes on Tuesday night. Even if Ohio State is still ahead of them, there’s still a chance, but that’ll take losses by USC and TCU in their respective conference championships.

Ole Miss dropped out of the AP top 25, but Mississippi State replaced them at No. 25, which means Alabama still has two top-25 wins (Texas at No. 21). South Carolina also found themselves in the rankings this week after back-to-back top-10 victories over Tennessee and Clemson. That means there are now six SEC teams ranked.

Alabama has climbed up to No. 6 in the latest Coaches Poll, which also came out on Sunday.
With Alabama not winning the SEC West, that means that we won’t see them again until late December or early January, depending on Playoff status and bowl game. Still, there’s a lot to cover and talk about between now and then, so be sure to stay tuned to more coverage from BamaInsider.
