Alabama OL Tanner Bowles entering transfer portal
We all knew transfer portal season was going to wild. It’s almost here, and things are every bit as hectic as we imagined.
Earlier on Wednesday, Alabama wide receiver Christian Leary announced that he’d be entering the transfer portal after two seasons in Tuscaloosa. Now, a second Crimson Tide player has made a similar announcement. Alabama redshirt junior offensive lineman Tanner Bowles is that second player.
Early on Wednesday afternoon, On3 college football reporter Matt Zenitz was the first to break the news of Bowles’ departure via Twitter. That now makes Bowles the seventh Crimson Tide player to enter this season.

Bowles hasn’t played much tackle on the college level, however. Instead, his time has been spent shifting back and forth between offensive guard and center. The versatility to play any interior position, as well as some offensive tackle, could make him an appealing addition to the right school.

In his four seasons at Alabama, Bowles saw action in 19 games, including all 12 so far this season.
A lot of his time has been spent on special teams, but he’s played a total of 86 snaps on offense in his career, including 40 this season. He’s seen action at left guard (Utah State), right guard (UL-Monroe and Vanderbilt) and center (Austin Peay). He never cracked the two-deep, but he’s been a valuable depth piece.
