Alabama OL James Brockermeyer enters NCAA transfer portal
Alabama offensive lineman James Brockermeyer has entered the NCAA transfer portal, sources tell BamaOnLine. Brockermeyer is listed in the portal with a “do not contact” tag, which means the Crimson Tide center knows where he wants to continue his career.
Brockermeyer, a redshirt junior, capped Alabama’s spring season working at center with the first-team offense. After playing in all 14 games last season as a reserve, Brockermeyer was set to compete for the starting job with Washington transfer Parker Brailsford, who missed time this spring due to non-football-related things. Now, Brockermeyer is on the move.
His departure leaves Alabama thin at the center position. Adding Brailsford shortly after Kalen DeBoer took over as the head coach helps, but beyond that, the Crimson Tide doesn’t have any experience at the O-line’s anchor position after Seth McLaughlin left in January.

Roq Montgomery and Joseph Ionata saw reps there this spring, but they have played in a combined two games. So center could now be a position Alabama targets in the portal.
Brockermeyer is the second Alabama player to enter the transfer portal during the spring window. A former 4-star recruit out of Fort Worth, Texas, Brockermeyer joins his brother Tommy – who has since medically retired – in transferring from the Tide program.
