Alabama Football Pregame Show: BOL Staff previews ReliaQuest Bowl
No. 11 Alabama (9-3, 5-3 SEC) will close out the 2024 season when it faces Michigan (7-5, 5-4 Big Ten) in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa on Tuesday, December 31 (11 a.m. on ESPN).
The Crimson Tide and Wolverines meet for just the seventh time in the history of the two storied programs on New Year’s Eve. Michigan evened the all-time series at 3-3 with a 27-20 overtime victory in last year’s College Football Playoff semifinal matchup at the Rose Bowl. Not only did the Wolverines end Alabama’s 2023 season in Pasadena, they defeated Washington and Kalen DeBoer in the CFP National Championship Game in Houston, 34-13.
DeBoer is 0-1 against Michigan in his coaching career, while Michigan’s Sherrone Moore will be making his first appearance against Alabama as a head coach in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Before the two bluebloods face off at Raymond James Stadium, BamaOnLine staff members Charlie Potter, Jimmy Stein and Blake Byler discuss the latest team news and what the Tide must do in order to leave Tampa with a win and build momentum for the offseason.
The Alabama-related topics discussed by the guys include:
– Justin Jefferson potentially returning
– Jaylen Mbakwe at receiver; Jalen Hale practicing
– Who fills in for the injured Malachi Moore?
– Position group of interest for the bowl game?
– Excitement level for this postseason matchup
– Alabama wins the bowl game if…
