The recruiting news stayed hot throughout the month of August with several commitments for the Crimson Tide. Alabama has also extended new offers to additional players in the 2023 class. The college football season begins on Saturday! Recruits have scheduled official visits and commitments will continue taking place throughout the next few months.
A few top recruits have recently said they will take official visits to Alabama this fall including David Hicks, five-star defensive tackle from Paetow High School in Katy, Texas, and Michigan State commitment Bai Jobe, four-star edge rusher from Community Christian School in Norman, Oklahoma.
Alabama offered Louisville commitment Jamari Johnson, three-star tight end from Inglewood High School in California, last week. Does Alabama have a chance to flip the 6-foot-4.5, 255-pound athlete?
The Crimson Tide appeared on the verge of adding a commitment last month from Ole Miss commitment Suntarine Perkins, four-star linebacker from Raleigh High School in Mississippi. Has the momentum shifted back in favor of Perkins sticking with the Rebels?

Is Alabama a legit contender for five-star DL David Hicks?
The answer right now-I doubt it. I felt the same way about five-star linebacker Anthony Hill (Texas A&M commitment) a few months ago before and after his official visit to Alabama. Hicks recently told On3 Sports National Analyst Sam Speigelman he will take an official visit to Alabama this fall. Hicks took summer officials to Miami, Michigan State and Oregon. He will visit Oklahoma on November 19, but has yet to set his trip to Tuscaloosa. Hicks is also expected to return to College Station this season. He has visited Oklahoma and Texas A&M several times throughout his recruitment.
This isn’t one of those situations where a player is just trying to get a free trip. Hicks has remained in contact with Alabama for a long time. It’s just a significant uphill battle. Hicks told Sam a few days ago, “It’s been cool talking to Coach Nick Saban every once in a while and it shows how much they want me and how much they want me to come play for their school.”
Hicks is expected to announce a decision at the All-American game in January.
