The Alabama football team will be back on the practice field for the start of spring practice next week. On Thursday, the Crimson Tide released the entire 15-day practice schedule, which is set to get underway on Friday, March 11. That means we’re just over a week away.

The last time fans saw Alabama on a football field was during the national title game back in early January when the Tide fell to the Georgia Bulldogs 33-18. That sour taste has lingered for a while now, but spring practice is really the first official step towards shifting focus to the upcoming season.

With spring kicking off on a Friday, that means players will then have nine days off for Spring Break before returning to the field on Monday, March 21. From there, the football team will have 12 more practices to get prepared for the annual A-Day Game, which is set for April 16. That will be a Saturday, and the game will be played inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The 2022 Golden Flake A-Day Game will honor former Crimson Tide legends Wilbur Jackson and John Mitchell. Jackson made history in 1970 when he became the first African American scholarship student-athlete to be on the Alabama football team. Then a year later, Mitchell became the first African American player to participate in a varsity football game for the Crimson Tide.

This spring will provide several early enrollees, 13 in total, a chance to get acclimated to the speed of SEC football.

Alabama’s entire 2022 spring football practice schedule:

Friday, March 11
Monday, March 21
Wednesday, March 23
Friday, March 25
Saturday, March 26
Tuesday, March 29
