Alabama football schedule for 2022 revealed, plus our reaction
Alabama football is still in the middle of its 2021 football season. After a 3-0 start to the year, the Crimson Tide are welcoming the Southern Miss Golden Eagles to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday.
While the main focus remains on the 2021 season and trying to capture back-to-back national titles, the 2022 SEC schedules are being released on Tuesday night. The SEC Network is airing those releases.
Here’s the entire Alabama football schedule for 2022:
Sept. 3 vs. Utah State
Our thoughts on Week 1: My first thought: can we please get Carson Strong back for this game? Strong versus Bryce Young would be a fun QB matchup. Then I remembered Utah State and Nevada are two separate programs. Maybe that should tell us something.
Sept. 10 at Texas
Our thoughts on Week 2: There are enough connections between these two programs to make it one of the top games of the weekend. All those Texas recruits going to Alabama, Steve Sarkisian’s history with the Tide and I’m still hearing Miss Terry is shopping for real estate in Austin (joking).
Sept. 17 vs. UL-Monroe
Our thoughts on Week 3: Finally, Alabama has a chance to get revenge against the team that handed the Crimson Tide their worst loss during the Nick Saban era. It’s only been a decade and a half. Other than that, eh.

Sept. 24 vs. Vanderbilt
Our thoughts on Week 4: That Alabama-Texas game in Week 2 needs to be a doozy. Otherwise, the entire month of September is going to be a snooze for Alabama fans. If Clark Lea is going to rebuild this Commodore program, it’ll likely take longer than one year.
Oct. 1 at Arkansas
Our thoughts on Week 5: Sam Pittman is taking this Arkansas program to new heights. The Razorbacks are currently a top-20 team with an undefeated record and could be a staple in the top-25 next season. On the road? Rough.
Oct. 8 vs. Texas A&M
Our thoughts on Week 6: At some point in 2021, the Aggies might take a slight step back. But with the way that Jimbo Fisher and that program have been recruiting, they should be a top-10 team in 2022. Getting A&M at home could be crucial.

Oct. 15 at Tennessee
Our thoughts on Week 7: Third Saturday in October. Where will Josh Heupel have this program in Year 2? That’s the million-dollar question, but it’s time for this matchup to become relevant again.
Oct. 22 vs. Mississippi State
Our thoughts on Week 8: Is Mike Leach still going to be the coach in Starkville by the time this game rolls around? More than likely, but there’s no guarantee. There should be some key building blocks, such as Will Rogers and Jaden Walley, back though.

Our thoughts on Week 9: Good timing considering Week 10 and 11.
Nov. 5 at LSU
Our thoughts on Week 10: If we’re going to ask if Leach is back in Starkville, we also need to ask if Ed Orgeron is still going to be in Baton Rouge. Something to note: Alabama hasn’t lost there since 2010. Something else to note: Alabama has beaten LSU by a combined score of 94-17 over its last three trips.
Nov. 12 at Ole Miss
Our thoughts on Week 11: At first glance, back-to-back road trips to LSU and Ole Miss looked dangerous. There’s no doubt it’ll be tough, but it may not be as bad as it initially looked. Still, the Tigers will likely be a physical, tough road matchup followed by Lane Kiffin’s system. That stretch won’t be easy.
Nov. 19 vs. Austin Peay
Our thoughts on Week 12: Sure, why not.
Nov. 26 vs. Auburn
Our thoughts on Week 13: Where will Bryan Harsin have this program in Year 2? More than likely, Bo Nix will be back for his fourth and final season. Plus, Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter will both be back. Should be a fun way to end the regular season.
