Alabama freshman DB Peyton Woodyard enters NCAA transfer portal
Alabama freshman defensive back Peyton Woodyard has entered the NCAA transfer portal, sources tell BamaOnLine. Woodyard is listed in the portal with a “do not contact” tag, which means the Crimson Tide safety knows where he wants to continue his college career.
Woodyard enrolled early at Alabama and participated in bowl practices before going through drills this spring. He spent the spring working with the second-team defense at safety and was one of 12 players to receive the Ozzie Newsome Most Improved Freshman Award.

A former 4-star recruit out of Fullerton, California, Woodyard was considered the 128th overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. The 6-foot-2, 188-pound freshman was the No. 7 safety and No. 10 player from California in the class.
Woodyard is now the third Alabama player to transfer during the 15-day spring window. This move comes on the same day the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from Charlotte safety transfer Kameron Howard, who is coming off a standout freshman season for the 49ers. But sources tell BamaOnLine that the decision by Woodyard was not a surprise to the staff.
