Alabama in pursuit of linebacker in the transfer portal
For the second time this year, South Alabama linebacker Khalil Jacobs has opted to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Jacobs previously entered the portal in January during the winter portal window before withdrawing his name. Alabama extended an offer to Jacobs prior to his withdrawal from the portal. The native of Niceville (Fla.) is now back in the portal, On3’s Pete Nakos reported on Friday morning.
BamaOnLine has been informed that the Tide is a program to watch here. Sources tell BOL that Alabama has once again offered Jacobs and is in pursuit of the incoming junior. There will be mutual interest between the two parties.
Bama being in pursuit of Jacobs is not a surprising development.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder played for defensive coordinator Kane Wommack for two years while at South Alabama. Jacobs is very familiar with the 4-2-5 “Swarm D” defense, and has had success in it. He recorded 56 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, an interception, and three forced fumbles during the 2023 season.

Jacobs previously informed BOL in January that he was looking into an Alabama visit before withdrawing his name from the portal. At this time, it has not been confirmed when the Sunshine State native will be making his way up to Tuscaloosa.
Jacobs has two years of eligibility remaining.
