Alabama issues first player availability report for Missouri game

Alabama Football issued its first availability report of the week on Wednesday evening.
The No. 15 Crimson Tide (5-2, 2-2 SEC) will welcome No. 21 Missouri (6-1, 2-1) to Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 26, for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ABC.
In its loss at Tennessee, Alabama saw four defensive backs sustain injuries. Starting safety Keon Sabb is expected to be “down for a while,” head coach Kalen DeBoer said. Cornerback Zabien Brown and Huskies DeVonta Smith and Red Morgan also missed time due to injuries, but neither Brown nor Smith were listed on the Crimson Tide’s first availability report.
“I know there’s a lot of, I think, one position group in particular, just kind of put them all together, all the other DBs,” DeBoer said on Monday. “I think we’ll just look to see how they progress throughout the week. A lot of similarities between just kind of the level of injuries that they have. Right now, I’d be expecting them all to be able to play on Saturday.
“So we’ll be ready to go.”
Also no longer listed on the availability report is freshman running back Daniel Hill.
As for Mizzou, its starting quarterback and running back were both doubtful on Wednesday. Despite his comeback against Auburn, quarterback Brady Cook has been “extremely limited” in practice due to an ankle injury, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports. “He still may try and ramp up later in the week to attempt to play, but the outlook is pessimistic,” Thamel said Wednesday.
Under the new rules, Alabama and Missouri are required to update their availability reports on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as 90 minutes before the game on Saturday.

SEC Availability Report Policies
Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
Prior to a Saturday football game, an institution must issue the Initial Report on Wednesday by 7 p.m. CT and update the Availability Report once per day on Thursday and Friday (after the conclusion of practice and before 7 p.m.). On game day, an institution must provide one Game Day Update no later than 90 minutes before game time.
Designated Participation Statuses
If an institution has knowledge that a student-athlete may not be able to participate in the upcoming game for any reason (including, but not limited to, injury, illness, suspension, ineligibility, or personal matter), the institution must accurately designate the student-athlete’s participation status on the Initial Report as follows:
– Out – Will not play / 0% chance to play
– Doubtful – Unlikely to play / 25% chance to play
– Questionable – Uncertain to play / 50% chance to play
– Probable – Probable to play / 75% chance to play
