Alabama Football issued its first availability report of the week on Wednesday night, ahead of Saturday’s game at Vanderbilt – the Crimson Tide’s first SEC road game of the season.

Top-ranked Alabama (4-0, 1-0 SEC) and Vanderbilt (2-2, 0-1) are scheduled for a 3:15 p.m. CT kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 5, in Nashville. The game will air live on the SEC Network.

In Alabama’s 41-34 win over then-No. 2 Georgia, a few players exited the game with injuries, including a trio of starters. Wide receiver Kendrick Law, defensive lineman Tim Keenan and defensive back DeVonta Smith were among them. Head coach Kalen DeBoer said Smith was simply dealing with cramps and was able to practice this week. Keenan also participated in practices leading up to the Vanderbilt game. But Law’s availability is unclear.

“He’s still day-to-day right now, trying to work through it,” DeBoer said on the SEC coaches teleconference. “He’s trying to do everything he can to get out there. He was a really critical, I thought, piece that maybe didn’t show up in the stat column but a really critical piece to some success we’ve had against Wisconsin and last week against Georgia. He’s getting better and better every week.

“But from an injury standpoint, we’re still kind of seeing. I wouldn’t rule him out, and I wouldn’t say he’s a for-sure go right now.”

Under the new league rules, Alabama and Vanderbilt are required to update their availability reports on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as 90 minutes before kick on Saturday.

SEC Availability Report Policies

Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.

Prior to a Saturday football game, an institution must issue the Initial Report on Wednesday by 7 p.m. CT and update the Availability Report once per day on Thursday and Friday (after the conclusion of practice and before 7 p.m.). On game day, an institution must provide one Game Day Update no later than 90 minutes before game time.

Designated Participation Statuses

If an institution has knowledge that a student-athlete may not be able to participate in the upcoming game for any reason (including, but not limited to, injury, illness, suspension, ineligibility, or personal matter), the institution must accurately designate the student-athlete’s participation status on the Initial Report as follows:

– Out – Will not play / 0% chance to play

– Doubtful – Unlikely to play / 25% chance to play

– Questionable – Uncertain to play / 50% chance to play

– Probable – Probable to play / 75% chance to play
