Alabama lands 15 players on Preseason Coaches All-SEC Teams

The Alabama football program has seen 15 of its players land on the 2021 Preseason Coaches All-SEC teams, which was announced on Tuesday. Of those 15 players, seven of them were first-team selections.

Here is the breakdown:

First-Team Selections

  • John Metchie III, Wide Receiver
  • Evan Neal, Offensive Line
  • Phidarian Mathis, Defensive Line
  • Christian Harris, Linebacker
  • Will Anderson Jr., Linebacker
  • Malachi Moore, Defensive Back
  • Josh Jobe, Defensive Back

Second-Team Selections

  • Jahleel Billingsley, Tight End
  • Emil Ekiyor Jr., Offensive Line
  • Henry To’o To’o, Linebacker
  • Jordan Battle, Defensive Back

Third-Team Selections

  • Brian Robinson Jr., Running Back
  • LaBryan Ray, Defensive Line
  • Christopher Allen, Linebacker
  • Will Reichard, Kicker

Of those selections, the most notable might be Reichard only making the third team behind LSU’s Cade York (first team) and Auburn’s Anders Carlson (second team).

Reichard was the only kicker in the SEC to not miss a single field goal try, converting 14-of-14 attempts. He was also one of six in the conference to hit 100 percent of his point after attempts. But his 84 attempts far exceeded second (Evan McPherson, Florida, 52 attempts) and third (Jack Podlesny, Georgia, 38 attempts).

Still, there’s a reason these postseason lists exists as well. If Reichard strings together another quality season, he’ll almost certainly make a move up. For now, he’ll just have to use it as motivation.
