Alabama lands first ’26 commitment in Kalen DeBoer era
Jamarrion Gordon, ’26 cornerback from Jackson High School in Alabama, announced his commitment on Saturday morning. Gordon is the first ’26 commitment since the new staff arrived in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama currently has 10 commitments in its ’25 class prior to the start of summer camps and official visits. There are very few players who have yet to attend camp prior to their junior season with the opportunity to have a green light to commit to Alabama. That should say a lot about how the staff feels about the in-state player.
“I committed because of how the coaches treated me and my family,” Gordon told BOL on why he chose the Crimson Tide. “It’s a winning program. They are known for winning, the new coaches are known for winning. I just want to go somewhere I know I am going to win.
“It feels good knowing that I am going to a winning program. Everyone from where I am from loves Alabama.”

The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back initially received an offer from Alabama on April 9. It was the first time he visited Tuscaloosa this year. Coach Linguist and defensive coordinator Kane Wommack extended the offer during the unofficial visit.
“The visit was really good,” he said. “I really liked how everything still seemed to be going really good there. They have a lot of new stuff in the weight room. I just really liked the overall program.
“I enjoyed watching practice. They practice real fast, and hard from what I saw. It’s just fast-paced. I really liked it.”
Gordon previously announced a Top 10 on May 3 of Alabama, UCF, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee. He visited Alabama, LSU and Miami during the spring.

Alabama Co-DC/cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist attended Gordon’s spring game on Thursday evening. It was the early relationship established with the former Buffalo head coach which helped secure an early commitment.
“I decided when I saw Coach Mo (Linguist) at the game,” he said. “He was the only coach who kept his word to me about coming out there to see me. That really meant a lot.
“He was fired up when I told him about my decision. He is ready to get me down there more, and ready to get me there in the future. I like Coach Mo a lot. He doesn’t sugarcoat anything. He keeps it real with you.”
Gordon is one of two in-state defensive backs in the ’26 class with offers from Alabama. Zyan Gibson, Top 100 corner from Gadsden City High School, is also heavily pursued by Alabama.
Gordon had 30 tackles, seven pass break-ups, one interception, a fumble recovery and a sack during the 2023 season. He intends to graduate high school in December of ’25. His teammate, ’27 RB Xzavier Crowell, also has an offer from Alabama. He appears as one of the best overall players in the country. “He already knows where home is,” Gordon said regarding Crowell.
Plans have not yet been finalized for a return visit to Tuscaloosa this summer. Gordon will return often, however, and says it’s currently the only school he has any plans to visit. Others will likely enhance recruiting efforts with the unexpected commitment. Gordon may listen, but also says that he is “locked-in” with the Crimson Tide.
