Alabama lands third NSD commit in 4-star EDGE Jihaad Campbell

Jihaad Campbell is a borderline five-star prospect with On3.

Alabama continues to have a strong National Signing Day. The Crimson Tide have only lost one commitment — and it was expected. On the flip side, three new pledges have been added to its 2022 recruiting class, the latest being Jihaad Campbell out of IMG Academy.

The elite four-star edge rusher had been committed to Clemson until all the recent coaching changes, including the departure of defensive coordinator Brent Venables. Campbell is rated as the No. 55 overall prospect, No. 4 EDGE and No. 9 player from the state of Florida, according to the On3 Consensus.

After already signing the nation’s top edge prospect Jeremiah Alexander earlier in the day, Campbell’s commitment now gives Alabama two of the nation’s top 4 exterior pass rushers. Not only that, check out the last three edge classes for the Tide:

  • Jeremiah Alexander: 5-star / No. 9 overall / No. 1 EDGE
  • Jihaad Campbell: 4-star / No. 55 overall / No. 4 EDGE
  • Dallas Turner: 5-star / No. 8 overall / No. 2 EDGE
  • Keanu Koht: 4-star / No. 37 overall / No. 5 EDGE
  • Chris Braswell: 5-star / No. 13 overall / No. 2 LB
  • Will Anderson: 5-star / No. 18 overall / No. 3 LB
  • Drew Sanders: 5-star / No. 25 overall / No. 5 LB
  • Quandarrius Robinson: 4-star / No. 75 overall / No. 13 LB

“Highly athletic, versatile edge defender who is an impact player on the most talented defense in high school football. Pairs high-end athleticism with positional versatility. Among the more athletic players on IMG Academy’s roster, clocking an electronically-timed 4.52-second 40-yard dash prior to his senior season. Plays as a rushing linebacker for IMG and has made the most splash plays on a defense that is two-deep with blue-chip prospects. Consistently wins as a pass rusher off the edge due to his first-step quickness and bend. Also has the ability to drop into space and play in coverage. Previously played off-the-ball at his high school in New Jersey, prior to transferring to IMG. Plays with high energy both in practice and in games. Always shows up to compete, regardless of the setting. Will need to fill out his 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame to be a full-time EDGE at the next level.”
