Alabama LB Jayshawn Ross to enter transfer portal
Alabama linebacker Jayshawn Ross is expected to enter the transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos reported on Friday morning.
Ross was a 4-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting cycle, ranking as the No. 144 overall player and the No. 19 edge rusher in the cycle. As a true freshman this past season he redshirted, making his lone appearance against Mercer.

Ross played outside linebacker, or the ‘wolf’ position for the Crimson Tide. That room returns starter Qua Russaw as well as top reserve Yhonzae Pierre in 2025, but loses Que Robinson to graduations. Alabama brought in two wolves in JUCO transfer Kevonte Henry and top-50 prospect Justin Hill to bolster the room.
The NCAA transfer portal’s 20-day window closed on Dec. 28, but is extended for five days for any team whose season ended after the initial closing of the window. A second, but brief, 10-day window will open from April 16-25.
