TAMPA, Fla. – Alabama linebacker Que Robinson may not be playing in the Crimson Tide’s bowl game, but he is still making an impact on the team, based on Monday’s recognition.

After a joint press conference for Kalen DeBoer and Michigan’s Sherrone Moore, Robinson and Max Bredeson of UM received the “Make It Possible” player awards from Reliaquest CEO Brian Murphy. The inaugural honor was voted on by players from both bowl teams.

“We thought let’s have a ‘Make It Possible’ player award that’s voted on by each team,” Murphy said. “Who’s the player, chosen by their teammates, that made it possible, whether that’s a good teammate, great athlete – that’s a given – but generally it comes around work ethic, being a great teammate, being an important part on and off the field.”

For Alabama, that was Robinson, who made the trip to Tampa but won’t be able to play because of a season-ending injury. Robinson has still been at practice and helping the younger players in the Wolf linebacker room, which is why he received Monday’s award.

“According to his teammates, Que is a selfless player who’s given all to his teammates, the coaches and university,” Murphy said. “A fifth-year linebacker who started the season, Que took it upon himself to be a leader and a mentor to his position group and the defense as a whole.

“Que suffered a season-ending injury late in the year but still made a consistent effort to be a resource for his teammates and made a direct impact on the Crimson Tide’s 2024 roster.”

Robinson suffered a season-ending injury in Alabama’s 42-13 win over LSU in Baton Rouge. The upper-body setback prematurely ended Robinson’s fifth season and college career.

Robinson waited his turn behind players like Will Anderson, Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell and had a prime opportunity this season. He was taking full advantage of it, leading the team in sacks (4) before his injury. He also added 23 tackles, seven tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries and one forced fumble during his final year at the collegiate level.

As the award suggests, his coaches and teammates praised Robinson’s impact this fall.

“Just a special, special person in every way,” DeBoer said on November 11. “You hate to see a guy that pours so much into it go through what he’s going through. The one thing when I think about Que is not just what he is on the field, but pre-practice, he is mentoring, doing things for other guys.

“He just cares so much about the team. He just cares so much about this place. This is just something that sticks out on top of what you see on game days. Just a great person. He’s poured a lot into this place.”
