Alabama linebacker Sterling Dixon has entered the transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos reported Saturday afternoon.

Dixon was a true freshman this past season and redshirted, appearing in just three games. He recorded no stats in his three appearances against Western Kentucky, Missouri and Mercer. As a recruit the 6-foot-3 linebacker was a 4-star prospect that ranked No. 209 overall in the 2024 class and the No. 17 linebacker in the cycle.

Dixon will have all four years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Alabama has a crowded inside linebacker room next season, returning a number of players from last year while added three inside linebacker recruits as well as Nikhai Hill-Green, a transfer from Colorado. The Tide is still awaiting an NFL Draft decision from Deontae Lawson, and waiting on an eligibility ruling for Justin Jefferson, who both could still return.

The lone departure from the inside linebacker room at the moment is Jihaad Campbell, who declared for the draft.

The NCAA transfer portal’s 20-day window closed on Dec. 28, but is extended for five days for any team whose season ended after the initial closing of the window. A second, but brief, 10-day window will open from April 16-25.
