Alabama lists Derrion Reid as game time decision for Mississippi State
Alabama released its final availability report before its road game at No. 14 Mississippi State on Wednesday night.
As usual, senior guards Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Achilles) and Houston Mallette (knees) are listed as out for the game, with neither expected to be back this season. Freshman forward Derrion Reid (lower body) was listed as a game time decision, having missed Alabama’s last four games.
Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats was fairly optimistic in his assessment of Reid yesterday.
“Derrion Reid’s been going more and more,” Oats said. “He’s probably questionable until game day, but he did more in practice today than he’s done up to this point. I’m not the trainer and I don’t make these decisions, but he looked pretty good to me. If he does get the clearance finally to go, we’ll have 10 healthy, available players for us.”
As Oats said, if Reid is available, then Alabama will have 10 players available to play for the first time since early January. The Crimson Tide has been operated shorthanded for much of the month with only nine available scholarship players.
No. 4 Alabama will tip off against No. 14 Mississippi State at 8 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

SEC Availability Report Policies
Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
Prior to an SEC basketball game, an institution must issue the Initial Report the night before a game by 7 p.m. CT (or, for an institution that played a game the day before, by 11:00 am local time the day of the game, or two hours before the game starts, whichever is earlier).
On game day, an institution must provide one Game Day Update no later than 90 minutes before game time. On the Game Day Update, the only permissible designation statuses are:
• Available – Will dress for the game and be available to play
• Game Time Decision – Coaches and/or medical personnel need to evaluate the athlete in pre-game warmups before deciding whether he can participate in the game
• Out – Not dressing or available for the game
