Nick Saban and his staff at Alabama have lost a commitment from one of the members of their 2023 class.

On Sunday night, BamaInsider Director of Recruiting Andrew Bone reported that offensive lineman Raymond Pulido had decommitted from the Crimson Tide. Pulido’s father, Robert, explained what led to the decision to depart from Bama’s class.

“We talked as a family,” Mr. Pulido told Bone. “Raymond is grateful for the Alabama experience, but the West Coast felt more like a better fit.

“He did not want to open up his recruitment until he knew what felt right and made a decision,” Mr. Pulido added. “He had informed Alabama coaches and kept it quiet out of respect.”

According to his father, Pulido will be signing with Arizona on Wednesday, which is the first day of the Early Signing Period.

Pulido, a top-25 offensive tackle on the 2023 On3 Consensus, committed to Alabama back on Aug. 13. He impressed o-line coach Eric Wolford with his camp performance on June 8 before returning to Tuscaloosa for another unofficial visit in late July.

The Crimson Tide now have 24 commitments in their 2023 class, with 11 of them being top-100 recruits. Despite Pulido’s decommitment, the program still checks in at No. 1 on the 2023 On3 Consensus Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

Alabama also remains in play for five-star offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor, who is currently committed to Iowa. Proctor unofficially visited T-Town this past weekend, with Wolford and Company continuing their strong pursuit of him by visiting him three times this month during the contact period.
