Alabama’s offensive line depth has take a hit for the 2025 season as tackle Miles McVay will enter the transfer portal, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports.

McVay, a redshirt freshman, spent two seasons in Tuscaloosa after signing with Alabama as a 4-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting cycle. In high school McVay was an interior offensive lineman, and ranked as the No. 12 IOL in the class. He was the No. 176 player overall per the On3 Industry Rankings, and the No. 3 player from the state of Illinois.

At Alabama, McVay redshirted his freshman season in 2023, appearing in four games against Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Chattanooga. This past season, McVay served as a backup offensive tackle and saw playing time either at tackle or as a blocker on special teams units in all 12 regular season games.

McVay will have three years of eligibility remaining at his new school.

McVay is the sixth Alabama player to announce his plans to enter the transfer portal for the winter cycle. The portal officially opens on Monday, Dec. 9, and will be open for 30 days, closing on Dec. 28. The spring portal window will open April 16 and close April 25.
