Alabama OT commit earns five-star status
It’s been quite the journey for Carmel, California, product Jackson Lloyd.
Lloyd was under the radar in the early stages of his recruitment. He landed offers from the likes of Cal, UCLA, USC, and others in 2023, but his offers were primarily on the West Coast. The Carmel High School recruit was also labeled as a three-star prospect throughout his junior season.
Then, on Jan. 15 of this year, Lloyd announced that he had received an offer from the Crimson Tide. He was the first known Class of 2025 offer for Kalen DeBoer‘s staff, with the head coach having offered him at Washington as well.
Flash forward 10 months, Lloyd — an Alabama commit since June 18 — has just earned his fifth star on On3.
In On3’s latest rankings update on Monday, the network expanded to 25 five-stars. Lloyd kept his spot at No. 20 overall and the No. 5 offensive tackle, but rose to five-star status in the process. He’s one of seven new five-stars in this week’s rankings release.
Along with high position and overall rankings, Lloyd checks in as the second-ranked player in the state of California in this class, behind new USC quarterback commit Husan Longstreet.

This is a major accomplishment for Lloyd, who is a three-sport athlete at the prep level. Lloyd’s focus has been on baseball and basketball as well throughout his high school career, and he’s been a star in each of those sports.
Instead of playing in the diamond and on the court next year, however, Lloyd is opting to forgo his basketball and baseball senior seasons to enroll at Alabama early. Both Lloyd and his head coach feel that he’s in the best shape of his life, and he is looking forward to getting to work in Tuscaloosa in a few more weeks.
“It’s extremely important for my position,” Lloyd previously told BOL of his conditioning. “The whole game for us is physical. That’s one of the most important things, and I can’t wait to go into that weight room program at Alabama. I think it’s the best in the country. I’m looking forward to that.”
Lloyd is a part of a 2025 class that features arguably the best offensive line group in the country. He’s joined in this class by highly sought-after offensive linemen Michael Carroll and Ty Haywood, and also in-state recruits Mal Waldrep and Micah DeBose.
