Alabama was picked to finish third overall in the Southeastern Conference this season, per a vote from media members who attended SEC Football Media Days this week in Dallas.

The Crimson Tide received 2,891 points in the predicted order of finish, coming in just behind Georgia (3,330) and Texas (3,041). The Bulldogs and Longhorns were popular picks for the 2024 SEC Championship Game, with former Alabama coach Nick Saban even choosing the duo for his title game pick. Georgia, with 165 points, was picked to win the conference title, while Texas garnered 27. The Crimson Tide once again came in third with 12.

Ole Miss (2,783) and LSU (2,322) rounded out the top five in the predicted order of finish. The Rebels had the fourth-most points to win the SEC championship with four, but LSU was tied with Vanderbilt with two apiece. South Carolina also received one point to win it.

The 2024 football season will mark the first since 1991 with no divisions in the SEC. The pair of participants in the conference championship game will be determined during the 8-game regular season, as the teams with the best SEC winning percentages go to Atlanta.

Only nine times since 1992 has the predicted champion at SEC Media Days prior to the season proceeded to win the SEC Championship Game. Alabama last won the SEC in 2023 and won it 11 times during Saban’s 17-year tenure as the head coach (30 overall league titles).
