TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jalen Milroe will play in Alabama’s bowl game against Michigan.

Speaking to reporters after Thursday’s practice, still in uniform, Milroe explained his decision.

“The mission right now is to complete the season,” Milroe said. “We have one more mission ahead, which is attacking Michigan, and that’s the whole thought process right now. Being our absolute best so we can take care of our business when it goes to play in Tampa.

“It’s all about going 1-0, preparing the right way, and so that’s where my focus is at, is winning this game, preparing the right way, taking care of my body so we can be our best us.”

Milroe, a redshirt junior, is in his fourth year at Alabama and could have opted out of the Tide’s ReliaQuest Bowl matchup with the Wolverines on New Year’s Eve. But the two-year starter at quarterback intends to finish the 2024-25 season in Tampa with his teammates.

The 2024 William V. Campbell Trophy winner has thrown for 2,652 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 65.9 percent of his passes this fall. Milroe has also rushed for a team-high 719 yards and 20 touchdowns on 152 attempts in his 12 outings.

On Sunday night at the team’s awards banquet, Milroe’s teammates voted him a Most Valuable Player alongside guard Tyler Booker. He is also a two-time team captain in Tuscaloosa.

Set to earn his master’s degree in sport management this week, Milroe will either enter the 2025 NFL Draft or return to college for one more year. He is waiting to make that decision public.

“My thought process right now is finish this game out against Michigan,” Milroe said. “So just being my absolute best I can be for my teammates and coaches.”

Alabama’s bowl game against Michigan is scheduled for Tuesday, December 31, at 11 a.m. The hard deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft is Wednesday, January 15.
