Alabama ranks behind Ohio State in latest CFB Playoff rankings
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The latest College Football Playoff rankings following Week 13 of the college football season have been released. On Tuesday night, it was revealed that Alabama now checks in at No. 6 in the rankings after beating Auburn 49-27 in Tuscaloosa this past Saturday.
Checking in at No. 6 is a step up from their No. 7 ranking last week.
Unfortunately, it still falls behind Ohio State, who dropped from No. 2 to 5 after losing 45-23 at home against top rival Michigan on Saturday. That means the Crimson Tide now, at the very least, need TCU and USC to lose in their conference championship games this weekend.
If that happens, there’s a chance Alabama and Ohio State could both get into the Playoff.
USC would be a two-loss Pac-12 runner-up, which probably won’t be good enough to be one of the top four teams. TCU would only fall to 12-1, but like Alabama, it wouldn’t have a conference championship. The argument could be made that the Tide have a better resume with the two losses coming on the road by a combined four points to top-15 teams.
