Alabama Recruiting: Five storylines to watch in May
The news on the Alabama recruiting front continues throughout the spring and into the summer. The Alabama coaching staff is currently spread throughout the country for evaluations. There are five important storylines to watch in May.

Spring evaluations
It’s not necessarily a make or break time for players, but it is an important part of the evaluation process. We’ve seen a lot of players ‘offered’ by Alabama. The majority of those offers are contingent on in-person evaluations. Some may just require an assistant coach to see them during the spring. Others will need to return for camp- this can even be for a five-star or Top 100 caliber recruit.

More commitments?
Many want to know who’s next to commit? It’s hard to guess during this time of the year unless the player has a commitment date. Recruits have just gone through the spring visit tour. Some may be thinking they are ready. Most want to continue the process. The official visit season is about to really crank into high gear.
There are players who are must-get priority targets who we don’t have to question whether Alabama will accept their commitment. There are others who Alabama may really like, but they also may want to see again in camp. Some of those players may decide to pop before the summer- Alabama will then decide if its ready to accept a commitment or pass.

Additional official visit dates, targets narrow the field
Recruits, beginning on July 1, can begin taking as many official visits as they want. A big part of the spring evaluation period for these assistant coaches is trying to lock-in OV dates for key targets. We’ve seen a lot of dates scheduled in the last month, and many more will get set in the coming weeks.

Alabama summer additions
The remaining members of Alabama’s 2023 No. 1 recruiting class, per the On3 Sports Industry Team Rankings, are expected to arrive on May 28.
