Alabama reveals jersey numbers for 29 new players, changes for 5 returners

Before Alabama takes the first for its first spring practice on Monday, March 3, the Crimson Tide shared jersey numbers for its new additions, as well as new digits for returning players.
Five of Alabama’s returners changed numbers, and all five dropped to either single digits or in the teens. Jaylen Mbakwe switched from No. 9 to 3, allowing him to play offense with running back Richard Young. Mbakwe has strictly worked with the offense since bowl prep.
Jersey numbers for the Tide’s freshman class, at least the ones who enrolled early, were also revealed, and three newcomers claim single-digit threads. Quarterback Keelon Russell will wear No. 12, his high school number, after it was vacated during the transfer window.
Freshman running back AK Dear will wear No. 0. He joins returning linebacker Deontae Lawson as the only two players in Alabama’s storied football history to wear the number.
The Crimson Tide also provided jersey numbers for 13 transfers who joined the team, including a pair of junior college additions. JUCO edge rusher Kevonte Henry is now listed as Fatutoa Henry and will wear No. 14. Miami wide receiver Isaiah Horton will wear No. 1, giving UA six wideouts with single-digit jersey numbers for the start of the spring practice slate.
