Alabama basketball rose again in the AP Poll this week, rising from No. 3 to No. 2 following a 4-point road win at Arkansas on Saturday night.

It ties the highest the team has been ranked this season, after the Crimson Tide started the season ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll, and held that ranking for two weeks of the season before suffering its first loss.

Alabama received 23 first-place votes in this week’s poll, with the vote for No. 1 being split following losses by No. 1 Auburn and then-No. 2 Duke on Saturday. Auburn maintained the top spot in the poll despite the loss, setting up a No. 1 vs. No. 2 rivalry matchup between the Crimson Tide and the Tigers this coming Saturday.

The poll continues to reflect the dominance of the SEC in the sport this year, with nine ranked teams from the conference. Those teams include No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Florida, No. 5 Tennessee, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 15 Kentucky, No. 19 Ole Miss, No. 21 Missouri and No. 22 Mississippi State.

Alabama’s next game will be on Tuesday night at Texas. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN.
