Roster countdown: 17 Bond; 16 Reichard; 16 Hamilton
Counting down the Alabama roster three players at a time. Next up for the 2023 series: wide receivers Isaiah Bond and Jaren Hamilton and placekicker Will Reichard.
17 WR Isaiah Bond
2022: As a true freshman, Bond appeared in all 13 games. First start of UA career came at Tennessee. Bond caught 17 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown. His lone punt return of the season covered 34 yards.
Of note: Bond projects as the top option in the slot, although classmate Kobe Prentice figures to play a role at the spot as well. Both present matchup problems both on vertical routes and after the catch in the quick passing game. In his first A-Day game, Bond, a recipient of the Ray Perkins Receiver Award at the close of 2023 spring drills, caught two passes for 27 yards. He also had multiple drops in the scrimmage. In the first scrimmage of fall camp, Bond made a diving grab of a deep pass down the right sideline.
16 PK Will Reichard
2022: In his third season on the job, Reichard made good on 22 of 26 field goal attempts and all 64 of his extra points. In the process, he became the Crimson Tide’s all-time leader in career points (426) and extra points (240). Reichard picked up second-team All-SEC honors from league coaches and the Associated Press and was honored as SEC special teams player of the week following wins over Texas and Ole Miss.
Of note: Given his contributions to this point, Reichard is deserving of permanent captain status for the upcoming campaign. Selection as a recipient of the Sylvester Croom Commitment to Excellence Award at the end of 2023 spring drills is supportive of the possibility. With 55 points this season, Reichard will become the SEC’s all-team leading scorer, passing former Auburn and current Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson in career points. Given the likelihood of close games being on tap once again, Reichard’s return for a final season marked one of the biggest offseason wins for Alabama from a roster management perspective.

16 WR Jaren Hamilton
2022: After transferring from P.K. Yonge High School, Hamilton capped his prep career at Gainesville (Fla.)-Buchholz High School, where he produced nearly 1,000 receiving yards and 14 touchdown receptions. Hamilton also intercepted two passes and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he checked in as the No. 39 wide receiver prospect for the 2023 recruiting cycle. Enrolled at Alabama in January and took part in spring drills.
Of note: Hamilton’s first A-Day action saw him work at the X position for the Crimson team. He was targeted twice in the scrimmage — including a well-placed deep ball from Ty Simpson late in the second quarter — but didn’t record a reception. Hamilton possesses combination of speed and size preferred in legitimate outside threats. Along with fellow newcomers Jalen Hale and Cole Adams, Hamilton worked with the third-team offense during the early stages of fall camp. While 2023 figures to be more of a developmental year for Hamilton, injuries and/or continued inconsistency among current two-deep members could bring him into play.
What we wrote about Hamilton upon his signing in December: ”With his mix of size and speed, Hamilton shows up quickly in the intermediate and vertical aspects of the passing game. Also strong enough to break tackles and pick up chunks after contact. Instinctive hands catcher who won 50/50 opportunities against formidable competition on the prep level.”
