A few weeks ago, Jaren Hamilton revealed to the world a decision he had already come to during the summer. Hamilton silently committed to Alabama in July, but publicly announced his commitment to the program on Nov. 28.

On Wednesday, the four-star wide receiver out of Gainesville (Fla.) officially signed with the Crimson Tide. Today marks the first day of the Early Signing Period, which lasts until Friday.

Hamilton wasn’t a known name to Alabama fans heading into the summer, but that changed in June. After camping at Bama, the speedy pass catcher earned an offer from receivers coach Holmon Wiggins. A month later, he returned for their Champions Cook-Out, which resulted in him silently committing to the Tide.

During the fall, Hamilton ended up not taking previously scheduled official visits to Michigan and Tennessee. The only official visit that he took during his recruitment was to Alabama the weekend of the Iron Bowl in November.

Hamilton informed BamaInsider recently that he is planning on early enrolling at Alabama.

Buchholz head coach, Mark Whittemore, on Hamilton’s skill set (Full Story HERE): “Linear and vertical, he’s maybe the most explosive kid, naturally, that I’ve seen in my 25 years coaching. Obviously, that’s a huge reason why he’s going to be an Alabama commit. Those kids don’t come along often. His explosiveness off the ball, in and out of breaks, is phenomenal because it’s not herky-jerky. It’s very fluid. He just explodes naturally.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power’s analysis of Hamilton (Full Story HERE): “Jaren Hamilton, he’s one who’s continued to grow on us the more we’ve looked at him. I think his play speed is good. He’s very physical. Well built. A lot of these receiver prospects who can run like him are in the 160-to-170-pound range, but he’s in the 190-to-200-pound range.

“He’s ready to go, physically. He’s got good hands and can elevate… not many holes in his game. I think he’s very well-rounded. A lot of receivers have a major strength or a glaring weakness. With him, he definitely is a guy who has a lot more strengths than weaknesses.”
