No. 5 Alabama will play in its second game of the 2024 season on Saturday, Sept. 7, when it welcomes the South Florida Bulls to Tuscaloosa (6 p.m. CT on ESPN). The Crimson Tide is coming off a 63-0 win over Western Kentucky in Week 1, while USF won in similar fashion by defeating Bethune-Cookman, 48-3, in its own season opener in Tampa, Florida.

This will mark the second year in a row Alabama and South Florida will meet on the gridiron. Last year, the Tide escaped Raymond James Stadium with a 17-3 win – one in which several starters on the 2024 offense, including star quarterback Jalen Milroe, did not play.

Ahead of Alabama’s second home game, which will honor former coach Nick Saban with the dedication of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, BamaOnLine staff members Charlie Potter, Blake Byler and Jimmy Stein share their final thoughts on the Week 1 win over WKU and look ahead to the second game of coach Kalen DeBoer’s tenure in Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama-related topics discussed by the guys include:

– Biggest surprise from the Western Kentucky game.

– Offensive line talk with Kadyn Proctor’s shoulder injury.

– Which Alabama player who didn’t score in the opener scores next?

– Similar for the defense, which defender forces the next turnover?

– Favorite or most memorable home game of Saban’s career.
