Alabama TE Danny Lewis withdraws from transfer portal
Alabama tight end Danny Lewis Jr. has withdrawn from the transfer portal and will return to the Crimson Tide for the 2025 season, On3’s Pete Nakos reports.
Lewis, a redshirt sophomore, has played in all 12 of Alabama’s regular-season games but has not caught a pass this season. Lewis has appeared in 31 games over his three-year career with the Crimson Tide (5 in 2022, 14 in 2023) and made one start. But the veteran tight end has only caught one pass in his tenure – a 5-yard gain against Chattanooga last year.

Lewis’ return gives Alabama six tight ends on the roster for next season, joining returners Josh Cuevas, Ty Lockwood and Jay Lindsey, as well as freshmen Kaleb Edwards and Marshall Pritchett. Alabama’s top receiving tight end from 2024, CJ Dippre, and top blocking tight end, Robbie Ouzts, are both out of eligibility at the conclusion of this season.
The NCAA transfer portal’s 20-day window opened on Monday, December 9, and will close on Saturday, December 28. A second, but brief, 10-day window will open from April 16-25.
