Wide receiver Germie Bernard will return to Alabama for his senior year, BamaOnLine has learned. ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported the positive roster news for the Crimson Tide.

Bernard later made it official with a statement on social media.

“I believe Coach DeBoer is building something special here and this program is once again on the brink of bringing another championship home,” Bernard said. “Because of that, and after much thought, time and consideration with my family, I’m excited to announce that I will be returning to Alabama for my final college season.

“I look forward to playing in front of the Tuscaloosa crowd again and competing for a championship in 2025!”

In his first year at Alabama, Bernard appeared in and started all 13 of the Tide’s games during the 2024 season. The 6-foot-1, 209-pound wide receiver led Alabama in receptions with 50 and turned those into 794 yards, which were both career highs for Bernard.

He has also scored three total touchdowns (2 receiving, 1 rushing) as he has carried the ball four times for 37 yards. Bernard’s biggest game in crimson was the regular-season finale, as he recorded the first 100-yard game of his career (111) in a rivalry win over Auburn.

Bernard began his college career at Michigan State in 2022 before transferring to Washington in 2023 and playing for Kalen DeBoer and JaMarcus Shephard in Seattle. He hauled in 34 passes for 419 yards and two touchdowns a year ago before he transferred to Alabama. Bernard joined the Tide in the spring and quickly carved out a first-team role.

Bernard will look to lead a Crimson Tide receiving corps that will welcome back Ryan Williams, Cole Adams, Jalen Hale, Rico Scott, Jaylen Mbakwe and Bubba Hampton and add freshmen Lotzeir Brook and Derek Meadows and Miami transfer Isaiah Horton in 2025.

Bernard is Alabama’s fourth draft-eligible offensive starter to announce they will return, joining offensive linemen Parker Brailsford and Jaeden Roberts and running back Jam Miller. Meanwhile, six defensive starters have also said they will be back for the 2025 season.
