Alabama WR Ryan Williams among finalists for Shaun Alexander Award

Alabama wideout Ryan Williams was named a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced Wednesday.

Williams is one of five finalists for the Alexander Award, presented to the most outstanding freshman in college football. The recipient of the Alexander will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 26 before the award is presented to the winner at the 88th Maxwell Awards on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the College Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga.

Alabama has had two recipients of the Alexander, including Will Anderson Jr. (2020) and Caleb Downs (2023).

  • Burst onto the scene in his first year of collegiate action
  • Leads the Crimson Tide in receiving yards (857) and receiving scores (8) while ranking second in receptions (45)
  • Tied for second in the SEC for receiving touchdowns
  • Ranks sixth in the conference for receiving yards, yards per game and yards per reception with a 19.0 yards per catch mark
  • Also rushed for 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground
  • Added 10 punt returns for 82 yards to go with two kickoff returns for a combined 14 yards
