Alabama wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks and defensive lineman Isaiah Hastings both entered their names into the NCAA transfer portal on Thursday, sources confirm to BamaOnLine.

Brooks played in eight games this season but has been sidelined by a shoulder injury since the LSU game. Before the setback, however, his role within the offense had diminished, as he only caught three passes for 30 yards one year after leading the Crimson Tide with eight touchdown grabs on 39 catches to go along with 674 yards as a sophomore last season.

“He’s done a great job,” said head coach Nick Saban of Brooks last month. “He’s done a great job on special teams. He’s been a little hurt which has contributed to his role to some degree. But he’s been great. He’s done a great job on special teams.

“He’s done everything we’ve asked him to do. When he’s gone in the game he’s done a really good job of doing what he needs to do. He got his shoulder banged up which has been a little bit of an issue for him all year in the game, so we’ll see how it goes this week, as well.”

A former 5-star recruit, Brooks was one of four top-100 receivers in Alabama’s 2021 signing class, and now, all four have transferred (Brooks, JoJo Earle, Agiye Hall and Christian Leary).

In addition to Brooks, Hastings, a redshirt freshman defensive lineman, also entered the transfer portal on Thursday. The defensive reserve had not entered a game all season after appearing in one contest (ULM) last year while preserving his redshirt. Hastings hails from Toronto and was a 4-star recruit during the 2022 cycle, per the On3 Industing Rankings.

The NCAA transfer portal’s 30-day window opened on Monday, Dec. 4, and players have until Jan. 2 to decide to utilize this window. Four Alabama players have done so thus far.
