Alabama’s basketball program continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the transfer portal.

On Saturday, the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from transfer guard Aden Holloway. The former Auburn point guard committed to Bama during a visit with the program. Holloway had not taken any trips besides Alabama since entering the Transfer Portal on April 9.

Holloway becomes the third player from the portal to join forces with Bama in the past four and a half weeks. Pepperdine guard Houston Mallette committed to Alabama on March 19 following a multi-day visit to Tuscaloosa. USF small forward Chris Youngblood chose the program on the Saturday portion of his visit this past weekend.

All three of these players committed to the Tide without visiting any other schools.

This past season at Auburn, Holloway averaged 7.3 points on 31.8 percent shooting and 2.7 assists in 20.2 minutes per game. Starting 26 games as a freshman, Holloway had nine games where he scored double-digits. He scored a season-high 24 points on 63.6 percent shooting against Indiana on Dec. 9, and had 15-point games scoring against Georgia, Notre Dame, and USC.

“Aden is a special winner,” Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl said of Holloway. “He has a high basketball IQ and the unique ability to create for himself and others. People just love playing with him.”

At the prep level, Holloway was one of the top prospects in the country. In the 2023 cycle, Holloway was tabbed as the No. 18 overall player, the No. 2 combo guard, and the No. 2 player out of California. A native of Matthews (N.C.), Holloway played prep ball at Prolific Prep in Napa (Cali.), which recently produced Bama signees Aiden Sherrell and Derrion Reid.

The 6-foot-1, 178-pounder was a McDonald’s All-American, scoring 15 points and recording three steals in last year’s game.

Per the On3 Industry Transfer Portal rankings, Holloway is a top-100 player in the transfer portal, and is the No. 10 combo guard in the portal. Older for his class, Holloway will be 20 years old by the time next season begins.
