Ben Potts joins Alabama basketball program as video coordinator
Alabama men’s basketball head coach Nate Oats announced Tuesday the hiring of Ben Potts as video coordinator. Potts makes his way to Tuscaloosa with experience in college basketball and the NBA after most recently working for the Detroit Pistons.
“We are excited to welcome Ben to our staff,” Oats said in a release. “He is coming highly recommended from the NBA. We were looking for someone with NBA experience to add to our staff who can further our development as a program playing an NBA-style modern system. Ben is an extremely hard worker who is self-motivated and can relate well to our guys as he himself was a college basketball player not too long ago. He is a high-character individual that we’re ecstatic about adding to our staff.”
Most recently Potts served as a video intern for the Detroit Pistons under head coaches Monty Williams and Dwane Casey specializing in player development, working with Alec Burks and 2022 NBA All-Rookie selection Jalen Duren. Prior to working with the Detroit Pistons, Potts spent six seasons at Colorado under head coach Tad Boyle, starting as a team practice player and being elevated to a graduate assistant during his last two seasons at Boulder.
