Bo Scarbrough exactly what Birmingham Stallions needed at RB
Former Alabama standout Bo Scarbrough is running wild for the Birmingham Stallions. In his two USFL starts since stepping in for an injured C.J. Marable, the former five-star prospect has gone for 100 or more yards on the ground in back-to-back games.
Scarbrough’s latest outing included a 100-yard performance in a 26-16 victory over the Pittsburgh Maulers on Sunday. Not only that, but his performance was a key factor in the Stallions becoming the first team to secure a spot in the upcoming USFL playoffs.
This standout game came just a week after Scarbrough went for 105 yards and touchdown on just 16 carries in a 33-17 win over the Michigan Panthers. The former Alabama running back was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week for that performance.
Scarbrough was originally brought in to alleviate Birmingham’s loss at running back after an injury to Marable. The team’s starter had rushed 303 yards and three touchdowns through the first five games, but Scarbrough is picking up the torch where he left off.

Soon after the win on Sunday, Stallions head coach Skip Holtz read the playoff invitation as after getting back to the locker room. For those who are unaware, the postseason will take place in Canton (Ohio) after all of the regular season games were played in Birmingham (Ala.).
“Congratulations to you, your team and staff” the invitation read. “The Birmingham Stallions have officially clinched in the berth of the inaugural USFL playoffs. We will see you in Canton on June 25th.”
Coming out of IMG Academy in 2014, Bo Scarbrough was a five-star prospect who rated as the No. 14 overall player, No. 2 running back and No. 1 player from the state of Florida, according to the On3 Consensus. He ultimately chose the Crimson Tide over other programs such as Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Arkansas.
