The Alabama men’s basketball team is coming off its first loss since the end of November, as the No. 4 Crimson Tide fell on its home court, 74-64, to No. 21 Ole Miss on Tuesday night.

Alabama turned the ball over a season-high 21 times and only recorded four offensive rebounds in the loss to the Rebels. The Tide also made just five of its 20 attempts from 3-point range and saw its 8-game winning streak snapped. Following the 10-point loss, UA coach Nate Oats called the team’s effort in a battle for first place in the SEC “disgusting.”

The Tide (14-3, 3-1 SEC) will look to bounce back from its third loss of the season, but it will be a challenge to do so. Next up for Oats and Alabama is a top-10 matchup with the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, January 18, in Lexington, Kentucky (11 a.m. CT on ESPN).

Immediately after its previous two losses, Alabama rebounded to defeat ranked opponents – defeating Illinois in Birmingham after losing on the road at Purdue and then getting the best of North Carolina in Chapel Hill after losing to Oregon in Vegas. Can the Tide do something similar this weekend at Rupp Arena and stay near the top of the SEC standings?

BamaOnLine staff members Charlie Potter, Tim Watts and Blake Byler share their thoughts on the loss and the upcoming game as Alabama ventures deeper into its conference slate.
