No. 5 Alabama ended the regular season with one of the biggest wins of the Nate Oats era.

The Crimson Tide traveled to play then-No. 1 Auburn and walked out of Neville Arena with a 93-91 win in overtime. Alabama guard Mark Sears hit a floater at the buzzer to secure the Tide win and improve the team’s record to 24-7 (13-5 SEC) entering postseason play.

But Sears only scored nine points in Round 2 of the Iron Bowl of Basketball. Alabama’s bigs stole the show offensively, as Grant Nelson led the team with 23 points and eight rebounds and shot 3-of-6 from 3-point range. He also slammed home a highlight dunk that will be replayed in Coleman Coliseum for years to come. Center Clifford Omoruyi also had a nice showing with 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting to go with eight rebounds against the Tigers.

Alabama locked up the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament and will face the winner of Thursday night’s Kentucky-Oklahoma matchup in the quarterfinal round. The Tide’s first SEC Tournament game is set to tip off 25 minutes after the 6 p.m. game ends on the SEC Network.
