BamaInsider merges with BamaOnLine

BamaOnLine joins On3

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — On3 is proud to announce the addition of another long-time market leader to its fan site business with BamaOnLine (BOL) joining the On3 network.

The BOL staff will join forces with the faces fans have come to associate with On3’s coverage of the Crimson Tide, recruiting insiders Andrew Bone and Joseph Hastings, plus Alabama team experts Clint Lamb and Jimmy Stein. The new BOL staff combines for over 100 years worth of experience covering the Tide, led by publisher Tim Watts, who is joined in the transition by long-time BOL staff members and Alabama experts Travis Reier and Charlie Potter.

“BamaOnLine.com is one of the true iconic fan sites in our industry,” said Shannon Terry, CEO and Founder of On3. “Since 1996, BOL has owned the Alabama market with breaking news and insights on the Crimson Tide. Tim Watts is an icon and is as connected to college coaches and media as anyone. He brings a connected and experienced staff, and combined with Andrew Bone and the BamaInsider team, BOL 3.0 will immediately become a giant.”

This move reunites Terry, who started BOL in June 1996, with Watts, who first joined Terry in 2001 before growing the site to more than 10,000 active subscribers to become the largest college fan site on the internet at the time.

“I’ve worked with Shannon Terry for over 20 years,” Watts said. “He’s not just a CEO or friend, he’s like a brother to me. But it’s not just the personal relationship, the guy knows how to build a business. This will be my third time with him, and I’m extremely excited — but there is more to it than that.

“There are several guys who I respect and who I am close to that are at On3 that I am excited to work with again; guys I know that are the best in the business and who will help On3 blow up. Travis Reier and I have worked together for 20 years, Charlie Potter for another 8, and we are excited to join Andrew Bone, Clint Lamb, Jimmy Stein and Joseph Hastings to make BamaOnLine the place to be for everything Alabama.”

It is a dream team for Tide fans, joining the market’s two largest fan sites and communities, and putting it on an up-and-coming, next-generation network. On3 has established itself as the foremost authority on NIL coverage, in addition to offering fans the industry’s most complete recruiting database with never-before-seen features and a growing network of the best fan sites on the internet.

“We are beyond excited to merge with BOL to form the definitive team and recruiting site in the Alabama market and beyond,” Bone said. “This is a day we’ve been looking forward to for a long time! The team assembled on the new BOL at On3 are veterans in the industry and will continue to serve as the major voice on the Crimson Tide beat!”

“I couldn’t be more excited about the new path we’re embarking on with On3,” Reier added. “Having spent the last 20 years with BamaOnLine, I can speak firsthand to the unsurpassed leadership On3 has in place. Being able to add quality teammates to the great ones — Tim Watts and Charlie Potter — I’ve worked with for nearly a decade now is the cherry on top.”

“I’m super excited to be joining On3,” Potter said. “Having been at BamaOnLine for the past decade, I have enjoyed working alongside Tim and Travis and am excited to merge with the current staff at On3 to make one hell of an Alabama fan site. I look forward to continuing extensively covering football and men’s basketball for BOL and, now, the On3 network.”

“I have been covering Alabama in some form or another for over 20 years and the chance to work with the team from BOL and On3 is absolutely the highlight of my sports media career,” Stein said. “I have been such a fan of BOL’s work, I feel like a player drafted by his favorite team. I am overjoyed and our subscribers will be, too.”

“The opportunity to team up with the powerhouse that is known as BamaOnLine is truly exciting and an experience of a lifetime,” Hastings added. “I first started covering Alabama in March 2022, and quickly grew to know and respect the behemoth that is BOL. Tim Watts is a pillar of this industry, and his hard work and dedication is only surpassed by his high character and genuineness as a human being. I’m thrilled to be working alongside him and the rest of the BOL crew!”

“I’ve been keeping up with Tim and BOL ever since I became interested in the recruiting side of college football as a high school freshman in 2006,” Lamb said. “This website has been the premier brand in the Alabama market for as long as I can remember, and I couldn’t be more excited to join forces with an already elite staff. I’m looking forward to working alongside Charlie and Travis to bring Crimson Tide fans the absolute best coverage of Alabama athletics.”
