Alabama’s Bryce Young has been named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Miami on Saturday. The Crimson Tide routed the Hurricanes to the tune of a 44-13 victory, and Young had a significant impact on that outcome.

In his first career start, the sophomore quarterback completed 27 of his 38 pass attempts (71.1%) for 344 yards and four touchdowns. It set the Alabama records for yards and touchdowns by a quarterback in their first start.

Young’s biggest — but not only — play came on a 94-yard touchdown strike to Ohio State transfer receiver Jameson Williams. According to SECSports.com, it was the second-longest touchdown pass in school history.

The game plan for Miami going in was to get Young off his spot and force him to make plays on the move. Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, that strategy was unsuccessful, as Young made play-after-play on the run — even when under pressure.

Young wasn’t the only Alabama standout to receive SEC Player of the Week honors.

Junior kicker Will Reichard was also named Special Teams Player of the Week. He connected on all three of his field goal attempts with a long of 51 yards, and he also didn’t miss any of his five extra points. In addition, he kicked off seven times, forcing seven touchbacks.
