Clifford Omoruyi named to Naismith Defensive Player of the Year watch list

Alabama men’s basketball center Clifford Omoruyi is one of 15 candidates selected to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year presented by Molecule Watch List, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday.

  • Omoruyi is one of six players in the SEC named to the 2025 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List
  • Averaging 7.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game this season
  • Ranks 11th in the SEC in defensive rebounds (4.6) and 15th in rebounds per game (6.4)
  • Posted three games grabbing double-digit rebounds, including a season-high 12 rebounds vs. Kent State
  • Ranks 10th among active Division I players with 247 career blocks
