Coaches Poll reveals Alabama's ranking after Iron Bowl win
Alabama (11-1, 8-0 SEC) got to win No. 11 on Saturday evening after beating in-state rival Auburn (7-5, 6-3 SEC) 27-24 on the road inside Jordan Hare Stadium. Unfortunately, the thrilling late victory did nothing to help the Crimson Tide in the latest Coaches Poll, which was revealed on Sunday.
For the first time in awhile, one of the top-8 teams lost in Ohio State, who fell 30-24 to a top-3 Michigan squad. But due to the closeness of the game, the Buckeyes only dropped four spots to No. 6 while the Wolverines climbed to No. 2 behind the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
Alabama is still positioning itself for a College Football Playoff push, but it’s easier said than done with so many teams ahead of them. The good news? The Crimson Tide will get a chance to knock off Georgia in the SEC Championship Game next Saturday. Will that be enough? Who knows, but it’s a must-have game if Alabama even wants a chance.
