Coaching staff selects Players of the Week following Southern Miss game
On Saturday, Alabama extended its win streak to 18 games with a 63-14 victory over Southern Miss. A week after a tough road game against Florida, the results against the Golden Eagles were encouraging as the Tide prepares to welcome Ole Miss in Week 5.
Alabama’s coaching staff named seven Players of the Week on Monday. Two on offense, two on defense and three on special teams. Here are those seven players:
Offense
RB Roydell Williams: Came in as the second running back behind Jase McClellan and rushed for a team-high 110 yards on only 11 carries. His long was a 55-yard scamper that put Alabama in scoring position.
QB Bryce Young: Completed 20 of his 22 pass attempts for 313 yards and five touchdowns. His 90.9 percent completion percentage set a school record for a player with a minimum of 20 completions.
Defense
OLB Will Anderson: Accumulated five tackles, a sack and a QB hurry on top of his team-leading three tackles for loss. His 8.5 tackles for a loss now rank second nationally. Very disruptive player on Saturday.
LB Christian Harris: Earned five tackles along with one QB hurry and one pass breakup. Played assignment football consistently while limiting Southern Miss to only 213 yards of offense.
