The Alabama football team (11-1, 7-1 SEC) was able to finish the regular season on a positive note after defeating Auburn (6-6, 3-5 SEC) 24-22 in the annual Iron Bown on Saturday.

Yes, the game was a little closer than some had predicted going in, but based on how things looked in the first 58 minutes of the game, a win is a win.

Due to their standout performances in the game, seven different Alabama guys were given Player of the Week honors by the coaching staff. That includes one on offense, four on defense and two on special teams.

Here are those seven players:

Offense

WR John Metchie: Saw an astounding 24 targets in the game, which he turned into 13 catches for 150 yards. Six of his receptions went for a first down in the game, and he caught the game-winning two-point play in the fourth overtime.

Defense

OLB Will Anderson: Was double and triple-teamed throughout the afternoon, finishing with seven tackles. Of those tackles, three of them went for a loss with one being a sack.

DB Jordan Battle: Finished the contest with six tackles. Had a key tackle for loss in the fourth quarter that led to an important three-and-out for Auburn’s offense. That stop ultimately led to Alabama’s game-tying touchdown drive.

DL Phidarian Mathis: Was part of a dangerous trio with Anderson and Dallas Turner that combined for four of the team’s six sacks on the day. Totaled three tackles, including a team-high 1.5 sacks.

DB DeMarcco Hellams: Finished with six tackles with a half a tackle for loss. Also had a team-high two pass breakups while limiting TJ Finley to only 137 yards passing in the game. Was a force coming downhill against the run.

Special Teams

K Will Reichard: Hit two field goals on the day, both of which were crucial to keeping Alabama’s chances alive in the game. One was from 30 yards out while the other was from 38 yards.

CB Khyree Jackson: Continues to be a steady and consistent player on Alabama’s special team units. Helped the Crimson Tide coverage units prevent a big Auburn return.
